Ondřej Maleček / Head

Kaple Holyně Gallery Chapel of St. John the Baptist, Pod Lípou Square, Prague 5

Ondřej Maleček (b. 1977) graduated from the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague (the studio of Pavel Nešleha and Stanislav Diviš), where he built upon his previous studies of Czech literature and scenography. Due to his prior studies, he has a close affinity for literature and verbal imagery, particularly the classics of Czech Romanticism, poetry, and the topography of novels. Maleček blunts the sharp, wounding edges of romantic unruliness, inner conflict, and rebellious moods, transforming them into ballad-like, bitterly humorous fairy tales that nevertheless do not shy away from the dark depths from which they are drawn.
