Vladimir Houdek (*1984) graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague in the painting studio of Vladimír Skrepl. He worked with Jan Merta and German artist Silke Otto-Knapp in the studio of the visiting teacher. In 2010 he won the Critics Award for young painting and two years later the Jindřich Chalupecký Award. His geometrically and expressive work is an important part of the contemporary Central European painting scene for the second decade.
