is a Czech multimedia artist, a member of the international Fluxus movement, and director of its Eastern section. His activities include actions, visual arts, architecture, design, fashion, poetry, literature, photography, and music. Milan Knížák is a figure who significantly shaped our culture and, above all, its direction after the Velvet Revolution. He is among the best-known and most respected Czech artists worldwide, ranked in importance alongside authors such as František Kupka and Jiří Kolář. From 1990 to 1997, he served as Rector of the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague (AVU), and from 1999 to May 2011 as Director of the National Gallery in Prague. From 1989 to 2015, he was the head of the Intermedia Studio at AVU.
