Vladimir Kolia (*1956) was born in Brno and after graduating from the Secondary School of Applied Arts in Uherské Hradiště in the field of promotional graphics he joined the painting studio of Professor Jan Smetana at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague. Since 1992 the studio of graphics II has been led here, in 2006 he was appointed professor. He is a laureate of the Jindřich Chalupecký Award (1990) and the Awards by Dalibor Chatný (2006). Between 1984 and 1997 he worked as a singer and lyricist of the Brno undergrade group E. He has been working on the art scene since the 1980s and has a number of exhibitions in prestigious art institutions in the Czech Republic and abroad.
