About the work

Blažej Baláž for 100 pcs

2 words, 1 conceptual text, 15 letters, 11 segmented texts. A work on paper in which an interpretive trap is set, implicitly or explicitly. The main text, NEVERIMBANKAROM (I don’t trust bankers), is derived from a collage, an image from a period magazine (2006) which came from an advertisement and proclaimed “Neverte bankárom” (Don’t trust bankers), while calling for even greater risk-taking and deeper trust in the banking sector... This instructional text is appropriated into a conceptual text that exhibits an ambivalent conception. It acts as a “direct” text, critical and protest-oriented, yet its edge is blunted by the tautology of segmenting the conceptual text through the assigned symbolism of color arbitrariness. 11 secondary segments are assigned to specific colors, and this tautological anchoring creates the work’s connotative dispersion.
