About the work

Erika Bornová for 100pcs

For 100 pieces, we have selected a unique drawing in oil pearlescent pastels on handmade Himalayan paper. The drawing is part of a series inspired by the insect inhabitants of a house in the Šluknov Hook, where the artist currently resides for the most part. Erika’s colorful graphic explorations move along the boundary between accurate biological drawings and fantastical glimpses into the unexpectedly diverse and peculiar world of these creatures, their secrets, principles, and potential. The drawing on a striking purple background is inspired by a fly and its antenna at rest and in flight. It is as if the entire Universe were contained within the structure of this little creature, which we usually find rather annoying in everyday life.
