Ester Knap (*1993) is a Czech painter who graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague in the studio of Vladimír Skrepl from 2013 to 2019.

Ester Knap sees the landscape as a space for possible finding and sharing memories of different distances in time. In its concept, the landscape itself becomes a material for purely painting memory processing. The photographic artwork of specific places from the family archive, usually associated with childhood, are a memory switch that brings freely over time and follows the inner dimension of the memory - the presence in the emotion and the atmosphere it wants to create. However, it is not only the autobiographical moments that lead the author's hand.

In January 2024, the Gallery introduced the exhibition "Winter Apples", which, through its paintings, evoked a dreamy atmosphere and encouraged viewers to reflect its own memories and experiences.

In 2024 she was also the author of visuals for the National Theater drama, where her posters for new productions reflected her typical melancholy and lyric.

Esther Knap is one of the prominent personalities of contemporary Czech painting, whose works address their depth and ability to evoke universal human experiences.
