Kateřina Šedá studied the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague in the studio of Vladimír Kokolia. She graduated from a number of foreign internships and residences, including in ISCP, New York, Macro in Rome or in Cneai, Paris. He holds the Finnish Taku Production Prize or the Austrian Essl Art Award. She won the Magnesia Litera Award for the Brnox book and was awarded the Architect of the Year award. She realized a solo exhibition in Tate Modern in London and many others. She also exhibited at Biennale di Venezia, Manifesta 7 or Documenta 12 in Kassel.

When she became a laureate of the Jindřich Chalupecký Award in 2005, people argued if what Kateřina Šedá did is art at all. Today and abroad are one of the most famous contemporary artists. It has long been headed by charts, holding foreign artistic awards, exhibiting in leading international institutions, prestigious biennials and shows. It does not lose its sense of humor and joy in working with different communities - often they are people from excluded locations or people living in social isolation, but it can also be the author's family or the population of his native Lisen.

Her works are based on communication, interconnection and interpersonal relationships. They often aim to bring individuals or the whole community from lethargy and social isolation. For example, a committee consisting of a gray family's membership evaluates diploma theses at the Academy of Fine Arts, or the population of the whole village synchronizes its activities - they go to buy, cook, sweep in front of the house or go for beer. Her iconic exhibition in the British Tate Modern introduced 80 inhabitants of Bedřichovice and their common activities in the center of London, and so the Moravian village temporarily turned into Bedřichovice nad Bitch.
