Martin Velíšek (*1968) is an established artist of many faces. It is characterized by excellent knowledge of the creative means that create and subsequent experimenting with them. In his graphic works, for example, he cuts them, adapts them to their adjustration or makes 3D objects. The paintings are complemented by their physical artwork, leaving the frame with them or inserting hidden sources of artificial light into them. It is similarly daring to the history of art itself, so it reconstructs and makes again fresh numerous painting techniques or straight genres, which today does not receive such attention as before - still life, separate figure, landscape. He has won a number of awards for his work, especially as part of the “Graphics of the Year” festival, where he was nominated for the “Vladimír Boudník Award” for extraordinary graphic contribution in 2021.

His works could be seen, for example, at the exhibitions "Apropriation" (2025) and "Portraits" (2019) in the Alšov South Bohemian Gallery, "thinking of painting" in the Gallery of Prague (2023) or "silence" in the Václav Špála Gallery (2017). He is a graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague (1989–1996, studios: Jitka Svobodová, Zdeněk Beran, Bedřich Dlouhý, Miloš Šejn) and, in addition to art, he also focuses on literary activities and pedagogy. In 2019 he was appointed professor. It is represented in the following collections (selection): Gallery of the Capital City of Prague, Olomouc Museum, Regional Gallery in Liberec, Klatovy-Klenová Gallery, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic, OECD in Paris, Minister des Affaires Entrangeres du Luxemburg.

Martin Velíšek for 100pcs

Getting a taste for donuts is nothing that one should blame you in connection with Martin Velíšek. It captures them with a brilliant technique of classic painting, as is customary, which promotes them above the cheap caloric snack from the bakery counter. Following the example of the 17th Still Life, it is a sincere record of his time for him and it would not be Martin Velíšek if he did not mix a pinch of inconspicuous Saturnin's humor. Paradoxically, the fluffy buns use the Vanitas theme, to express today's emptiness, transience and nothingness. They are beginning to be somehow puffy. Sugar on donuts wet. Marmellade grinds around. The reality becomes difficult to present. However, if you fell a piece of real strawberry jam on the reproduction, do not despair. Martin Velíšek goes beyond the edge of the media in which he creates. He usually exposes his still still in the connection with the original. At the still life with carrots he painted a stem, which is followed by realistically modeled carrots. Similar is his still life with cucumber, which is divided into a diptych, which connects the sliced cucumber. And to the donut? This includes marmalade. In a way, these Velíšek still still are unavailable, or in the whole, they are only if one complements their non -substantive part.
