Profile

About the work

Michal Trpák for 100 pcs

The "Mazlíci" (Pets) are inspired by the world of bacteria and microorganisms. I enjoy enlarging universes that are otherwise invisible to us to our own scale, so that we can see them and touch them. And while doing so, to reflect on the fact that just because we cannot see something, it does not mean it does not exist. That universe can be just as diverse as ours, perhaps even more so.

I always make the large Mazlíci with different "skins" and textures: mosaic, glass, stone, polished marble. For the small ones, I thought about how to give them a similar material vibrancy. I used tiny glass beads saturated with resin and cast into a mold. The casting is then sandblasted, polished, and lacquered. Thanks to this, every Mazlík is an original, as the ratio of beads and colors is always a little different.

How edition numbering and pre-sales work

Every edition has a fixed size. Every object carries an engraved edition number and comes with a certificate in which the artist fills in the number and signs by hand. During a pre-sale you choose your number; after the pre-sale ends, numbers are assigned in order of purchase. Details are on the Edition sizes page.
