Ondřej Mestek (b. 1990), graduated in 2012-18 AVU in Prague (studio of painting I, School of Prof. Jiří Sopek and Robert Šalandy). Work: Chip, 2018, acrylic on canvas, 135 × 165 cm

Ondřej Mestek's situational painting presents the author's favorite destination or a place associated with memories and memory (personal and collective). The themes of the mountains in winter and the associated ski resorts and mountain huts are common. Mestek's ability to reduce the theme for this is the most important thing creates a specific atmosphere of his paintings. The work of the thaw refers to the anxiety of winter tourists who are editions of the mercy of the weather. At the same time, the image appeared with memory as a half-forgotten retro-document, like a reprint from the archive magazine.

Ondřej Mestek for 100pcs

My style is based on realistic painting with an emphasis on color composition. I am interested in the interconnection of nature, object and figures in the picture.

The image shows the scene of an abandoned object from the 90s and a man who goes through the scene. The motif is set in the mountain valley bounded forests. Emphasis is placed on solitude, melancholy and drama. This is evident both from the color and the image name - the thaw of the departing snow from the mountains.
