Patrik Krišák's paintings freely move from the figure to abstraction and back. Wild colors and generous shapes capture the world of pets or houseplants, but also semiotic features, circles of large format canvases. They are thickets on the border of natural history and linguistics, windows to the banality of the everyday world and the intricacy of what is behind it. Kiššák gradually created a unique technique, in which it applies colors directly from the containers. Instead of pulling the brush, Patrik turns through the whole canvas, creating compositions with an element of chance and surprise. Everything is part of the creative process.
Patrik Krišák (*1986) studied painting at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Ostrava in the studio led by prof. Daniel Balabán. A number of nominations for prestigious prizes, including the Strabag Art Award, the Start Point Award, the Critics Award for Young Painting, or the VÚB Award in the Painting category of the year, are evidenced by the significant position of this artist on the current scene. Kriššák exhibited in independent galleries and art institutions throughout the Czech Republic. His works are represented in private collections in the Czech Republic and abroad, such as Germany, Great Britain or Switzerland.

The image called Absolute Priorities belongs to the series called Extinction. Color coral reefs are the lashing paper of the state of our planet. If we want it to remain habitable, let's make sure their beauty does not disappear from our eyes. Without disregarding the climate crisis, Patrik Krišák is on the theme of the end of the world, at least as we know him, looking at a hint of exaggeration - was the end of the discovery of flint, or the election of Donald Trump as the president of the United States? The end of one is always the beginning of another, and at least Patrik's paintings do not grow the apocalypse. The future is uncertain, but that alone is not the end of the world.
