Peter Cvik (b. 2012 - 2017 he completed a doctoral study (Artd.).

Work: The Mirage, 2022, acrylic on canvas, 90 x 70 cm

Peter exercises entered the Slovak art scene at the moment when it was richly saturated with a predatory and viable generation wave of young painters postdigital visual era. In this situation, it was not easy to find their own individual journey, but Peter succeeded and today he is one of the sought -after artists. In his multithematic paintings, analytical exploration of painting as a media, the transformation of digital models into images that test reality links with abstraction, were initially highlighted. Gradually, however, he focused on contemporary painting in the so -called postdigital aesthetics - painting "completely classical method", without the use of any digital postproduction within the image of the image.

The work "The Mirage" belongs to the wider collection of paintings, which originated on the author's last year (2022) residence in Jerusalem. It is a unique immediate artistic record of the exotic "here and now", this time completely without a digital technical prototype. The work is characterized by a reduced but delightful seaside color and airy composition with levitating fragments of suspected reality.

Peter Cvik presented his work in the framework of solo, group exhibitions and residential stays in Slovakia and abroad, is represented in private and public collections.

Peter exercise for 100pcs

In my work I mainly research memories. Your own visual memories and memory. It is an autobiographical work, where various perceptions and my own memories communicate with painting on the canvas and then overload them by creating a brand new story or even a new reality.

The painting was created during my residence in Jerusalem, where I was invited as the first Slovak artist and is from the Sand and Dust series. It is about perceptions other than we have in Central Europe. Air is TSAM different, salty and dusty. The image of Mirage reflects contemplation over the low horizon and the airiness of my stay there.
