About the work

Stano Bubán for 100 pcs

"The painting 'Penance and Other Games' carries a powerful narrative of loss, humility, and the contrast between the adult world and the innocence of childhood. The work visualizes a moment where the external symbols of social status and success—a dark suit and tie—collide with a simple, almost forgotten children's game. A man in a suit kneels in the dust. This posture evokes repentance and the admission of one's own vulnerability. The glass marbles in the hole represent the fragility of wealth and the uncertainty of the market. What was a game to a child turns into a dangerous gamble with fate in the adult world of finance. The depiction reminds us that beneath the mask of the 'strong man' still hides a fragile soul, one that in moments of crisis seeks a path back to fundamental values and perhaps even to the lost peace of childhood."
