Tomáš Čtela (*1986) is an important representative of contemporary Czech figural painting. In 2008 he graduated from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid in Spain. He holds the Arte Emoción (2008) award and Critics Awards for Young Painting (2013).

Tomáš Clover for 100pcs

“The topic of branched personality, internal fragmentation and contradictory forces have been appearing in my work for several years. I am fascinated by the idea that we all carry more personalities in each other - some consciously suppress, others let go to the surface. creative results.

The image of Dorothy builds on this long -term interest. The inspiration was a character from the American film Wizard of Oz, which I transferred to pasty painting and layered - which is a newer approach for me. The main idea, however, is not a specific character, but it is the inner state where we contain different thinking beings that are in different ways or receding into the background. I think we all have it in us, just someone is aware of it more and someone less. ”
