Veronika Holcová (b.
Its work is based on a classical painting approach and in a way it builds on Czech surrealist work. The work of Veronika Holcová consists of figural paintings and paintings of endless dreamy landscapes with lonely figures and associative drawings on a free diary. For over 20 years, the painter has been among the absolute Czech art. Her work is represented in the collections of the National Gallery in Prague, in private and public collections in the Czech Republic, Canada, Switzerland, Italy, Germany, Great Britain or the US.
Over the past 30 years, she has presented her work on almost a hundred solo and group exhibitions in the Czech Republic and around the world. More about her, for example her site, or on Wikipediaor watch it on Instagram
About the work:
The exceptional imagination of Veronika Holcová allows her to balance between reality and imagination. Drawings, which they paint with oil paints on paper from Losin paper mills, act as diary notes. Instead of events, however, it is more likely to project their current state of mind. Siesta is also supposed to allow us to get into the mood, when we stop in the middle of the day and gain energy for the upcoming rest of the day. The work with a characteristic, absolutely unique and appreciated manuscript of the author was created in January 2024 and is one of its latest works.
