Entering the world of Kurt Gebauer means forgetting the heaviness of the world for a moment, and quite
literally so. As one of the most prominent and distinctive Czech sculptors of recent decades, Gebauer has accomplished something very few manage: ridding monumental art of its rigidity and "academic solemnity" and replacing them with playfulness, irony, and deep human understanding. The current exhibition at the ZAZA Gallery in Ostrava is not merely a standard presentation of works, but an invitation to a dialogue with an artist whose work is inextricably linked to our region and whose signature style is recognizable at first glance.
