The work of Patrik Hábl is characterized by a movement between figurative and abstract or structural painting. In his practice, these positions do not have precisely defined boundaries; quite the contrary. One flows into the other—a landscape or figure dissolves into an abstract structure, while from the structure, conversely, a face, a body fragment, or a figure emerges. Viewers will also find this approach in the works presented in the exhibition Beyond the Image—in the cycles Old Masters, Torn Paintings, Asian Landscapes, and others.
