Stefan Milkov / Milkov

Centrum současného umění DOX Poupětova 1, Praha 7

The Milkov exhibition is still the largest independent exhibition of sculptor Stefan Milkov (1955), which has been on the Czech art scene continuously since the mid -1980s. After studying at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague, Milkov participated in the activities of the newly emerging generation of artists, which is sometimes referred to as postmodern, and in 1987 he was a co -founding member of the Tvrdohlaví group, which included artists Jaroslav Róna, František Skála, Jiří David, Michal Gabriel, Čestmír Suška, Stanislav Diviš. Lhotský or Václav Marhoul.

The work of Stefan Milkov is subject to the world of mythical and mythical figures and scenes, and Christian themes also appear. Respect for ancient symbols whose universal validity does not deny Milkov often contrasts with subtle irony and humor. Later Milkov's work shows interest in technological elegance referring to the age of machines, expressed by almost aerodynamic morphology and reaching up to a purely abstract expression.

The exhibition presents a selection of works from Stefan Milkov, which was established in 1989–2024. It presents a selection that enables insight into his work and its various and often surprising positions. The exhibition is accompanied by large -format abstract paintings, which the author began to devote intensively in the last ten years and which represent a completely peculiar line of his artistic work. Different forms, different materials. Mini -stories and mythological scenes. Angel rustle of wings, broken solar car in the desert, recovery on the horizon and the onset of modern civilization. This is Stefan Milk's landscape. Sculptures and images that require concentration and reflection. It's not easy to read, but it's definitely worth it.
