Stefan Milkov (*1955, Bohumin) is an important Czech sculptor, painter, graphic artist, designer and musician with Bulgarian roots. He studied at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague, which he graduated in 1982. In 1987 he became a co -founder of the Tvrdohlaví group, including Jaroslav Róna, František Skála, Jiří David, or Petr Nikl.
Milkov's work is characterized by unorthodox processing of mythological, mythical and Christian motifs, which it often processes with elements of subtle irony and humor. In later years, his interest moved to technological elegance and abstract forms, which is reflected in his statues and large -format abstract paintings. In the public space, you can meet its important realizations, such as the Nikola Tesla monument in Prague's Dejvice, which was unveiled in 2014, or a monumental gate with a pendulum and a spring from 2005 in Havířov. Another distinctive work is the abstract statue of AMORFOID, which decorates the garden of the Agnes monastery in Prague.
His work was presented at many prestigious exhibitions. In 2019 he exhibited in the Václav Špála Gallery at the exhibition “Restless Times”, where he reflected social and cultural issues through sculptures and paintings. Currently, its most extensive A separate exhibition called “Milkov” in Center of Contemporary Art DOX In Prague, which presents a selection of his works since 1989 to the present. The exhibition, including statues, paintings and large -format abstract work, will last until 9 March 2025.
His works, known for his distinctive symbolism and original morphology, are represented in many public and private collections.

"I started to paint because I love colors, and sculpture is not very colorful. Moreover, it is a completely different kind of work, actually a relax. The image of joy until the morning was created during last summer symposium in Mikulov.
