About the work

David Černý for 100 pcs

The pair of drawings selected for the 100ks platform dates back to the 1990s, yet it demonstrates principles of Černý's work that remain valid to this day. Both drawings evoke preparatory sketches for monumental spatial realizations, whether fictitious or actually feasible – a distinction that, in Černý's conception, is often blurred. Anthropomorphic elements are present. The structure from Untitled I seems to look down, swaying on its (reinforced concrete?) legs. If we were to add a human perspective here, one would likely not even reach the top of the pedestal.
