Woman - ORIGINAL

A leading Czech painter presents a personal exploration of painting on the border between rational construction and intuitive gesture. Fragmentary, collage-like compositions create a space where reality blends with abstraction, and drawing with painting as equal means of expression.

Profile

Focus je jakousi vzpomínkovou etudou, v níž proces vzpomínání odpovídá zároveň určitému stavu zkreslení a deformace, jež rozrušuje pevnost a stabilitu malířských objektů.

About the work

Jakub Hubálek for 100 pcs

The painting was created in the recent period as a loose continuation of the author's previous work and represents a personal exploration of painting on the boundary between rational construction and intuitive gesture. Fragmentary, collage-like compositions create a space where reality blends with abstraction and drawing with painting as equal means of expression. The predominantly black-and-white scale refers to the visual memory of older media and animation, which the author combines with modernist principles and personal and cultural sources ranging from family archives to the digital image world. The result is a work concerned with memory and return, which is not nostalgic, but rather analytical and contemporary.
