Jakub Sýkora Jakub Sýkora

1234 - ORIGINAL

The paintings of the prominent artist Jakub Sýkora are rooted in his long-term interest in structure, geometry, and the visual elements that surround us in our everyday environment, such as patterns, typography, or graphic symbols. In his work, these forms merge with landscape motifs and travel experiences, which are important sources of inspiration for the artist. The resulting composition can resemble an abstract map, a record of atmospheric changes, or a fragment of a visual memory of a specific place. Sýkora's paintings are characterized by a restrained, minimalist expression and the layering of individual painted surfaces.

Profile

Jakub Sýkora

Jakub Sýkora (nar. 1984), absolvoval v l. 2006-2012 AVU v Praze (ateliér nových médií Veroniky Bromové a malířský ateliér prof.

About the work

Jakub Sýkora for 100 pcs

Jakub Sýkora ranks among the prominent representatives of the young generation of visual artists. In his work, he has long focused on geometric abstraction, which builds on the tradition of Czech structural painting of the 1960s. At the beginning of his artistic career, he worked with expressive non-figurative painting, in which hints of mimetic elements occasionally appeared. Over time, his painterly language transformed and began to head towards abstract compositions based on regular, geometrically structured forms. However, it is typical of Sýkora's work that he does not close himself off to one proven approach – on the contrary, he is constantly looking for new visual motifs and ways of processing them.
