Line Y - ORIGINAL

Renowned painter Jakub Sýkora has created a fascinating play of light in his painting Line Y. A radiant yellow line plays the leading role, emerging from the dark background like a bright beam in perfect harmony of colors and planes.

Profile

Jakub Sýkora

Jakub Sýkora (nar. 1984), absolvoval v l. 2006-2012 AVU v Praze (ateliér nových médií Veroniky Bromové a malířský ateliér prof.

About the work

Jakub Sýkora for 100 pcs

"The painting Line Y, where 'ypsilon' refers to the code for yellow (in the CMYK printing system), could also simply be called the yellow line. The image is built upon a structure formed by a black grid, from which a yellow line protrudes, and the illusion of shadow gives it plasticity. The painting is my homage to minimalism and to the structure from which the world is woven.

The yellow line is an abstract symbol that can be exchanged for many forms. A streak of light when a door is slightly opened to a dark room, the vertical of a tree trunk illuminated by the sun, the edge of a table reflecting the light of a lamp... Likewise, the grid in the background can be a simplified model of a landscape, a fence, a fabric structure, a spider web, an atomic lattice, or abstractly, any principle of repetition. Combining these two meanings creates an infinite number of further variations.

And they can also simply be lines and planes, balanced into optimal harmony."
