Martin Krajc (1984, Prague) is one of the most prominent middle -generation painters who combine classic painting training with a significantly contemporary gesture and sensitivity to visual detail. He graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague in the studio of Michael Rittstein and during his studies he completed an internship at the Faculty of Fine Arts Universidad Complutense in Madrid.
Its creation is characterized by energy, layering and spontaneity. Krajc has long been between figuration and abstraction, examining various circuits - from female figures and architectural structures to landscape and floral compositions to free expressive painting areas. The typical feature of his manuscript is the emphasis on color chords, light contrasts and material quality of painting, which looks almost haptic.
Since 2009 he has regularly exhibited in leading Czech galleries. In DSC Gallery, for example, he introduced separate projects such as Nymphae Perspicuae and The Space Between. He also presented his works in the Václav Špála Gallery, the Aleš South Bohemian Gallery or the Critics Gallery. In 2025, his work is followed by an extensive independent exhibition Out of Self in the Prague Gallery 1, which represents his latest painting cycles. His works are regularly sold and auction for higher hundreds of thousands of crowns and are represented in a number of important private collections.
The motif is based on Floral Bouquet (2024), created specifically for my solo exhibition Temptations in Ville Pellé. It was the motif of floral still life, which in the history of art history is a traditional motive that has been dealt with in the past by a number of well -known artists. I decided to realize the motive in a monumental format of 240 x 220 cm, which far exceeded the size of the format traditionally reserved for the painting of still life. The monumentality of the format allowed me to release the manuscript into a looser gestical concept, where I concentrated primarily on the harmony of color chords and the contrast of light deposits of colors with more pasting. I believe that this intention will also be evident in the graphic design of the motif.
