Petr Gruber (b. Work: column, 2020, acrylic and oil on canvas, 85 × 100 cm

Petr Gruber and his painting work are embedded in the distinctive colorists of the current youngest Czech paintings. He builds his paintings on "residential" experiences from specific places and destinations, where he often returns repeatedly (mountains, forests, forest nooks). This ritualized form of relating to a particular place, the author leads to deepening the timeless dimension of image compositions, which only present the most important of the chosen shot. What stimulates the attention of an ordinary viewer. The image of the column resembles a stopped film shot. The slowed or stopped reality seemed to reveal a different dimension of time and also plunged a different point of view of our own presence at a particular moment.

Petr Gruber for 100pcs

I can say that I am such a hunter of moments. The painting is realistic, but partly abstract. I enjoy the position where it is not clearly said. And one can put your belongings there according to your own experience.

It is a scene from the end of the festival I was on. In the picture is the most important light - noon light that throws sharp shadows from both characters. It was important for me to paint the air that bursts between them.
