Tomáš Tichý (b. Work: Lorenzini's Pool, 2022, Acrylic and Oil on Canvas, 180 x 150 cm
The author seeks and finds new possibilities of how to capture the instability and transience of consumer visuality through the static image and its expression innovation and how to reveal its numerous subliminal messages. It points to the mistakes in the matrix that demasses the other side of the retouched world. The painting foundation of Tomáš Tichý is in many ways polemical. In his work he applies critical procedures and ethical principles, whose background presents certain contradictory features of social status quo. His painting view can be described as diagnostic. Lorenzini's pool extends the advertising principles of unambiguous functional visuality into an ambiguous image of spreading voltage and restlessness. The combination of disparate elements (swimming pool, curtain, bouquet, atomic mushroom) creates a perfectly acting, film -dreaming reality.

I am interested in the balance between painting form and content. I believe that there may be a balance where even topics that are heavier can be processed in an attractive visual form.
The image is called Lorenzini's pool, and it is a metaphor of the global fears that we all have in ourselves, whether we want it or not. Lorenzini was a natural science who discovered that sharks had a special organ in the muzzle (named after him), the so -called Lorenzini's ampoule. Through electromagnetic waves, the shark recognizes when the prey is afraid and the shark attacks only when they fear the prey. And this is something that captivated me even in the context of today's war events. Thus, this concept was connected, which is then exaggeratedly transferred to the geopolitical level.
