Václav Buchtelík (1990), completed the University of Ostrava in 2010-2015 (the studio of painting Prof. Daniel Balabán). Work: Man, 2021, Oil on canvas, 100 x 100 cm
Václav Buchtelík is fascinated by the far side of human existence, where he finds the necessary tension for his painting. His themes are often ambiguous, full of immenseness, hints and links. His figural scenes represent an ambivalent atmosphere in society generating anxiety, claustrophobia or other forms of inner Tense. The work of the man belongs to a wider set of works where characters, individuals or pairs are situated on the landscape horizon, who perform a not quite clear activity, whose sense we can only guess. In addition, the image is dramatized by color litter, which can be as well as sunset as in the morning dawn.

My painting style is based on some kind of robustness and expression, which is very important to me. I try to record my life in my paintings and my personal experience is very important to me.
The image with the name man is the display of my silhouette as a person who resigned from society, on events in society. In a confident gesture, he stretches the rope and is preparing an imaginary noose of society.
