The exhibition by sculptor Dana Bartoníčková (1988) and painter Jakub Tytykal (1984) refers to the vital ambivalence, sense of absurdity, and playful skepticism held by the generation of artists born in the Czechoslovak eighties. The consumer-driven, rampant society of the free nineties finds itself, in the second decade of the new millennium, at the interface of complex sustainability and collapse. On the horizon of development, anxious questions multiply regarding the collective and individual fate of the human being, whose consciousness and knowledge encounter new boundaries of experience with mass manifestations of self-alienation. Amidst a fragmentation of values, mementos from the past emerge, and social dynamics lose their luster. The human relationship with space-time becomes complicated and problematized.
