Lubomír Typlt – Great Panic

DON gallery Divadelní 218/2, 390 01 Tábor

The only exhibition this year in the Czech Republic by leading contemporary Czech figurative painter Lubomír Typlt .

Typlt’s work is characterized by its manic energy and an effort to disrupt the viewer’s comfort zone. His paintings assault the senses with radical color palettes and intense contrasts, which, in combination with dynamic composition, create a feeling of constant tension. In his works, the artist often explores themes of individual socialization, manipulation, and hidden forms of repression, capturing the human figure both in motion and in chilling stillness, often with exaggerated, even unsettling, facial expressions.

The exhibition Great Panic offers a fascinating cross-section of Typlt’s work. Alongside iconic motifs of screaming toddlers and girls with wind-swept hair, the exhibition also features the artist’s specific still lifes, in which objects such as wheels or umbrellas are transformed into carriers of powerful archetypal meanings. A true highlight is the inclusion of a rare piece from the turn of the millennium, which demonstrates the continuity of the artist’s raw style from the very early years of his career.
