František Skála (*1956) is a sculptor, painter, illustrator, musician, and performer, and one of the most prominent figures on the Czech art scene of the last forty years. In 1987, he co-founded the legendary group The Stubborn (Tvrdohlaví), in 1991 he received the Jindřich Chalupecký Award, and two years later he represented the Czech Republic at the Venice Biennale. His retrospectives at the Rudolfinum Gallery (2004) and the National Gallery's Riding School (2017) were among the most visited contemporary art exhibitions of their time. Skála's works are represented in the collections of the National Gallery Prague, the Moravian Gallery in Brno, and the Museum of Contemporary Art in Sydney.
