Jan Pištěk (*1961) is one of the most prominent personalities of Czech painting, on the scene active since the mid -80s. He graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague (1980–1986) and in 1990 he became a professional assistant in the studio of prof. Bedřich Dlouhý; At the beginning of the 90s of its direction affected scholarships in New York.
He exhibited independently at the Veletržní Palace - below the surface (National Gallery Prague, 2013), in the Václav Špála Gallery - to the edge of the visible (2017), in the Ostrava Gallery Magna - from another world (2021) or in Ville Pellé - two worlds (2022). In the summer of 2025, its extensive retrospective hidden stories in the Royal Summer Palace takes place at Prague Castle.
The works of Jan Pištěk are represented in a number of public and private collections: the National Gallery in Prague, the Gallery of the City of Prague, the Aleš South Bohemian Gallery, Kunsthalle Prague, the collection of the Statutory City of Ostrava, the Mikulov Collection, the Karel Babíček collection and Collett Prague | Munich.
In addition to painting, he also devoted himself to film and theater expedition; He worked with his father Theodor Pištěk on extensive projects of American production filmed in the Czech Republic and narrative Czech musicals.
