The exhibition Unknown City presents the first comprehensive look at the work of painter Tomáš Němec (*1986), a graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague, whose work is characterized by a naturalistic, sensitive expression in which observation of reality intertwines with personal emotions, memories, and experiences.
The exhibition will offer a cross-section of the artist's work – from early still lifes, portraits, and figurative scenes based on a fascination with the old masters and the study of oil painting techniques, to intimate nudes and landscapes where the human body and nature become carriers of emotions and stories. Němec is inspired by the beauty of everyday life, yet he transforms it into subjective images that tell stories of fragility, transience, and the desire to capture fleeting moments.
