Tomáš Čtela (1986) graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague in 2005 - 2011 (the studio of painting at Michael Rittstein, atelier of graphics at Jiří Lindovský). In 2008 he received the Arte Emocione and Scholarship at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid in Spain. In 2013 he became the winner of the criticism award for young painting. The painter is fascinated by the faces and gestures, the ambivalence and the branching of the human mind. His painting style reflects big masters such as Goya or Schiele, but at the same time stands out by his authentic rawness and expression. Tomáš Clover has been actively exhibiting in the prestigious galleries of the Czech Republic and Europe (London, Paris) for 15 years.

Tomáš Clover for 100pcs

I am a figurative painter and recently combine the figure with different other elements. I was doing a cycle of paintings that combined the figure with abstract elements, which then transformed into the fragments of still life in the next cycle and could now say that the abstraction has now been replaced by quotations from the paintings of the old masters.

The painting was created in the series, where I combined fragments of Baroque still life and figuration, but partly fits into the previous series, when the interconnection of abstraction with the figure was more noticeable. It's such a picture on the border. The composition of this image creates a certain vortex, or an imaginary tornado that depends on the spiral from below, refers to the laws of nature and what happens in space and rotating movements in general.
