Milan Kunc

Milan Kunc (*1944) was born in Prague and studied at the Prague Academy of Fine Arts in 1964–1967. However, he did not finish his studies because he emigrated to Germany in 1969, where he graduated from the world -famous Kunstakademy Düsseldorf under the leadership of Joseph Beuys and Gerhard Richter. During his colorful, successful and long careers he lived and worked in Germany, Italy and for a long time in New York and since 2004 he has lived and has been in Prague.

It is one of the important representatives of the important return of the figurative image in the 1970s. He is a co -founder of the Normal Group, which co -created the form of postmodern painting. At the end of the 1970s he created a painting Ost -POP - his own variant of pop art - combining the motifs of Eastern Europe and the Western world. Over the past 50 years he has exhibited in prestigious galleries across Europe and the USA. His work is represented in the most important public art collections around the world. Mainly in Germany, the Netherlands, the USA (random Gagosian Gallery) and of course in the Czech Republic, including the collection of the National Gallery in Prague.
