David Strauzz for 100pcs
David Strauzz (1976) grew up in Canada in the family of Czech emigrants. He studied Beal Art College (London, Ontario) and then OCAD University in Toronto. In 2012 he moved to the USA, where he participated in several exhibitions in Boston and New York. He wanted to get to know his Czech roots, and in 2015 he settled in Prague and this year he was a resident artist Pragovka Art District. Now they form in its studio in Žižkov. Strauzz has also been running the Mega Gallery (in two places - in the lobby of the Můstek and Charles Square metro stations), where it gives space to artists linked to the graffiti and street art community. He himself came out of the raw and free environment of the street and graffiti culture. Therefore, urban archeology remains the basis of his work. Most often it uses techniques such as collage, decoration and assemblage, likes to combine different materials and found objects that give new contexts. Inspiration is found in urban culture, in the streets and among the people who use these places. Man's life and problems are also reflected in the large format portraits that David Strauzz creates in the streets throughout the Czech Republic and abroad. Often, these murla are complemented by text, which perceives as an important part of its art work.

David Strauzz for 100pcs
The current topics of Strauzz's work include Jung's shadow, our second - mirror - party of personality, or endless fear of existential uncertainty that repeatedly casts man on a kind of stage of absurd theater. In their paintings, which by their technically thought out, they offer most of the viewer different angles, he plays with the question of identity and the difficulty of recognizing truth and authenticity. In addition, the selected work entitled Life is one of the collage paintings consisting of gluing a number of found posters collected in the Czech Republic and abroad. Here, specifically, the author used torn posters from Prague and Berlin, which then covered another layer in the form of spray -sprayed faces on a steel mesh. One of the posters used with a distinctive inscription "Every end is a new beginning" found a month before the beginning of the Covidové pandemie in Berlin Street. And because Strauzz's work is all about sharing human stories and experiences, he also put in three portraits in the painting, among other things, the complexity of romantic interpersonal relationships (not only) at the time of Covid. At the same time, the layering of the posters reflects a man capable of deploying one mask after another, to hide behind his supposed ego, and to give up the fear of meeting his true, authentic self inside.
