Kornel Leśniak (born 1999) - graduated from the painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Katowice. Using oil painting, embroidery and written words, it works with the topics of cooperation and emotional phenomena strategy that appear on the contact points of various aspects of collective generational experience. Through the prism of his own experiences, he tells of the intersectionality of Queer anxiety, corporeality and need for belonging. He took part in the exhibitions "Unrest at dusk" in the Zachęta Gallery, the Crashclub project at the Warsaw Gallery Weekend organized by the Dawid Radziszewski Gallery and the "every power, every pulse" in the gallery as forgotten.

One of the Polish words that evoke a smile on the faces of our Czech neighbors is "Niebieski" - the color of heaven. If we took it more literally, it would turn out that it could mean the pure color of the sky at the same time on a sunny day, the deep black sky and the bright reflections of the stars on it shining. The paintings of Kornel Leśniak emerge as fragments of a blue panoptics. Economical in expression, nostalgic scenes, open spaces where the sea line connects to the sky, and the details of the faces in which the sparks of life glitter - strange red in this blue universe. We see the characters inhabiting this "lore" at intimate moments. The tearful shells, pale pearls and sad swans look at us discreetly in an effort to find a soul mate. The light reflecting in tears gives them noble beauty.

Kornel Leśniak for 100pcs

"Soulmates" is a story of accepting and finding safety in relationships. The motif of the swans is taken from a fairy tale about an ugly duckling that experiences exclusion and violence because of its seeming appearance and lack of understanding. In the end, however, he finds his community, a family that receives it with joy and care. It turns out that it has never been nasty or worse, just needed someone to look at it with love.
