Marek Jarotta
(born 1988) In 2007 - 2013, he graduated from the High Schools of Fine Arts in Bratislava (Department of Painting - Atelier doc. Klaudie Kosziby).
Work: Abandoned luggage 2, 2022, canvas oil, 100 x 70 cm
Marek Jarotta appears to be a subtle and calm personality, a patient observer and an almost meditative painter. In the past, monochrome, today and in reduced colors, worked, but what he is still interested in is the specific visuality of anonymous transit sites (waiting rooms, halls, escalators). However, impersonal, universally known and therefore predictable spaces in a clear perspective depiction are mostly disturbing in Jarott's paintings.
Jarott's image "Abandoned Luggage 2" captures the atmosphere of places that we are going through quickly. "One leaves a continuous activity of the trace of his physical existence. Therefore, he is still present in the places he has left, whether recently or before and for good, in abandoned buildings, cities, or places, but also in the hypothetical notion of post -apocalyptic future." The image of the recent presence of a person who has left unknown circumstances can permanently irritate the viewer by asking what happened there and why?
Marek Jarotta exhibited as part of solo and group exhibitions in Slovak Republics and abroad, is represented in private and public collections.

Marek Jarotta for 100pcs
In my work, I display the premises associated with travel - airport halls, station, and so on. In a way, I am fascinated by both the architecture itself and the masses of passengers. I am also interested in the psychology of a particular person who goes to these places for some of his goal and they are just transfer stations.
This image is an abandoned luggage in the series, when there is no man in those areas, but only the luggage that someone put aside or jumped from them. It is such a surrogate symbol of the traveler. This particular hall is from the bus station from Trnava.
