Jiří Černický (*1966) studied at the Prague Academy of Fine Arts and the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design, where in 2010–2023 he worked as the head of the Painting Studio (free art studio). In addition to other awards, he won the Soros Prize in 1996 and in 1998 the Jindřich Chalupecký Award. His work was presented at a number of independent and group exhibitions in the Czech Republic and abroad, and is also part of collections of important institutions, including the National Gallery Prague. He exhibited independently in the Rudolfinum Gallery in Prague (2016), the Futura Gallery in Prague (2018) or Gallery Platform 15 in Ústí nad Labem (2024), also presented his work in Milan, Cleveland, Toruni, Rotterdam or Paris.

Jiří Černický, as a distinctive and extraordinary creator, enrolled on the Czech art scene as early as the 80s. Since then, it has developed its work in many positions and media, from engaged and often demanding physical perfomments through spatial installations, sculptures and objects to video and finally painting, which again transcends its boundaries and expands to other physical and mental spaces. Černický's work often moves on the border of scientific experiments. It examines and deconstructs the world around us and its laws, but also views (personal) spirituality, body relationship, nature and technology. All of this is often interwoven with sharp humor and exaggeration, and sometimes even moving, childhood desire to come to the joint - not only to understand them, but also to feel and experience. Black painting often plays with wild color textures, enters the third dimension through found objects or spatial compositions. It provokes and calms the audience, forces us to look inside, around the corner, eyes, head, and the whole body.

Jiří Černický for 100pcs

At first glance, an abstract image hides a number of miniatures of deities and beings of various cultures and religions, whose intensity of the luminosity tests using a circle that passes through their rays. The image in times of growing religious intolerance and endless conflicts offers that instead of measurement of forces it would perhaps even recognize the strength and uniqueness of various supernatural beings and link their field of action.
